TL;DR

Problem given

The platform's existing employee data-source was being deprecated. Employee metrics had to be migrated to the new source and replaced across the product.

Problem framed

The forced migration meant we could redesign the entire employee data layer from first principles accommodating for the high-effort user requests piled up, with fewer technical constraints.

Fixed deprecation date for old data source; variable data quality across companies; one-week timeline was non-negotiable

Impact

LinkedIn's share of platform views grew from 22% to 51%, peaking at 57% in launch month and becoming the platform's #1 data source; client firms adopted the feature into their IC workflows, and analyst adoption held at 57–62% even as overall platform usage declined
